cup Shortening
1/3 cup Butter
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Lemon flavoring
5 cups Cake flour
1 pint Milk
2 Tbsp. Baking powder
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup Almond pieces, blanched

Cream together shortening, butter and sugar. Add eggs and lemon flavoring;
mix until light and fluffy.
2. Add remaining ingredients; mix only until combined. Place dough
on floured tray; refrigerate 1 hour.
3. Roll dough on well-floured surface to 1/2-in. thickness. Cut into
desired shapes; space 1 in. apart on cookie tray.
Brush
with milk and sprinkle with coarse granulated sugar before baking,
if desired. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350F or until golden brown.
